Welcome to our third week of the summer term!
An overview of the week
Literacy and Language: We will be continuing to study narrative verse based on the story The Bogey Men and the Trolls Next Door - we are going to work towards building our own stories based on the characters from the original story. We hope you are able to join us for the L&L parents evening on Wednesday 29th April (full details are on the main blog page)
Reading testing: Continue to look at comprehension techniques and example questions and sit a practice test under test conditions.
Mathematics: We will be consolidating our computation skills in particular looking at subtraction and division techniques and how to use inverse operations to help us check our answers.
Procedural and reasoning tests: continued revision towards the assessments - practice questions (working together but also individually under test conditions)
Homework - As the tests are commencing next week I will be setting a comprehension task and some maths test questions to help with our final preparations.
Spellings - Due to the extra homework set I will not be setting spellings to learn for Friday 1st April (we will continue to practice spellings in class during the week)
Dydd Llun (Monday): Literacy and language homework books to be returned.
Dydd Mercher (Wednesday):
This will be our first alternate PE day. The children will need to bring in kit this week (outdoor please) L&L information evening - children to attend with parents,to begin at 6.45pm.
Dydd Gwener (Friday):
Miss Wride will be teaching the children in the morning: Outdoor PE kit needed
* Bank holiday (Monday 4th May)- I hope everyone has a great bank holiday weekend together and the weather is kind to us! I will not update the blog until Monday 4th with regard to the rest of the week.
I will however, give advanced warning that it is imperative that the children are in school on Tuesday 5th and Wednesday 6th May as we will be timetabled to sit our first lot of tests on both of those days.
I must say that the attendance has been superb since the beginning of the summer term and Caerau did extremely well in the high attendance celebration assembly that was held by the local authority last week. If we could continue with 100% attendance again this week it would be amazing!
