It was all thanks to an unexpected visit at Mia Williams' house during the Easter holidays. Where a camera that had been launched with a weather balloon (in Bristol) landed in Mia's garden, whilst her and Ffion were playing on the trampoline. This led them to meeting the artists who had launched the balloon as part of their project, who then got in touch with me through Mia's dad and agreed to come into school to do a workshop with our class about their project.
The children had a fascinating morning with Ella and Nicki which ended with them making and launching their own bottle rockets!
Learning about the project:
Ella and Nicki then led a whole school assembly aided by their able assistants Mia and Ffion!
We then took part in a writing activity, sending a letter to ourselves to read in ten years time and trying to think what we may be doing ten years from now!
Finally, we divided into five groups and designed and made our own bottle rockets. We had to use teamwork and communication skills to design and build a rocket in a group in a short amount of time.

It was time to launch them on the school field, have a look at the videos of the launches!!
