Roald Dahl Week
This year sees huge celebrations across the land for the centenary of the birth of one of the world's best selling story-tellers, Roald Dahl - who incidentally was born here in Wales. You must have enjoyed reading his books when you were a child or even taken great delight in reading his magical stories about Charlie, Matilda, James and Danny to your own children!
Penygawsi Primary School have decided to celebrate this great author by holding a Roald Dahl week at school (week beginning the 12th of September), where there will be story sessions and activities based on the author's work. To add to the atmosphere of the week it would be fantastic to see as many human beans as possible (children and staff) dressed as one of the Roald Dahl characters on Friday the 16th of September. Imagine Mr or Mrs Twit, the BFG, Willy Wonka himself, or even an Oompa Loompa visiting our school. We are also hoping to show a variety of his films in school on the Friday afternoon.
Caerau's chosen Dahlicious book is 'James and The Giant Peach'. I can not wait to delve into this amazing novel; into the characters, their adventures and the fun that is packed into one of Dahl's most famous stories. During the week we will be finding out about Dahl himself, what made him become an author and where he found his inspiration.
We look forward to a GLORIUMTIOUS week of celebrations!
