I can not believe we are in week 6 already Caerau and that half term is quickly approaching!  It has been a very busy term and I am extremely proud of the effort you have all put in to every activity and challenge you have been given.  Let's keep it up for the last two weeks.  We CAN do this!

This week is Harvest week and alongside our science focus we will be looking at harvest during the war.  On Thursday we will be having our school Harvest Assembly.  If you have any spare tins, packets of rice or pasta and boxes of cereal could you please bring them to school by Wednesday 12th?  These items will be put on our Harvest table which School Council will be in charge of dressing and then donated to Food Bank.  For more information on Food Bank please click on the link below.

Our Class item will be a wartime song 'Hey Little Hen'.  The lyrics are below.  Please learn these in your spare time and we will be practising them daily at the end of each day in readiness for Thursday's assembly.

I had a lot of chickens,

We will be looking at diary entries this week and the language needed to write an effective diary.  We will be looking at Anne Frank's diary as a model.  If you do not know anything about Anne Frank do some research at home or as part of your VIP time during guided reading.  Any work brought in will be displayed on our topic wall. Many of you have told me you have relatives who were in the war.  I have asked that you interview these people and bring in the information to share with class.  Do you have any photographs or other artifacts (such as news papers, ration cards, identity cards, medals) we could photocopy and then send home with love?  We need to start developing our topic wall as it is looking a little bare.  Can you help us?

MATHEMATEG

This week we will be looking at dividing.  Some of you will be dividing without remainders and others with remainders.  You will be using your knowledge of multiplication to help you as you know division is the inverse (opposite) of multiplication.

C - Countinuing our counting in tenths.

L - x4 table - multiples, table, jumbled tables and fact families.

I - Dividing by 10 and 100.

C - Division using table facts.

We will also be completing our work on co-ordinates from last week during our Welsh lesson where you will be using your Y Dref maps to describe the town you've created explaining the co-ordinate for a range of places within a town.

In science we have been looking st forces.  We started last week by discussing what you already know and what it is you would like to find out.  After that we looked at what the difference is between a balanced and unbalanced force.  Following this we looked at pushes and pulls, using a Venn Diagram to sort a range of activities.

This week we will be using a Newton-meter to measure the force acting on a range of objects and graphing our results during our ICT session.  We will also be carrying out a gravity investigation.  This will involve making predictions, writing a detailed method and recording our results in the most appropriate way.  We must make sure our investigation is a fair test.  Before Wednesday can you find out what a fair test is?

PWNC

In topic we will be looking at Dig For Victory and what this meant for people during WW2.  We will be delving deeper into rationing and why it happened and the affect it had on families.  Thank you for the fabulous rationing recipes I had in last week.  I am hoping to have a day where we cook and taste some of these recipes.  I will keep you posted on when that will be.
