Today we were lucky to have Steve from Show Racism The Red Card in school for the day. Key Stage 2 started the day with an assembly and then Year 6 had a workshop where they developed their understanding of the causes and consequences of racism and explored the various forms racism can take. They also had the opportunity to discuss how they can challenge racism in their community and were provided with the relevant knowledge and information to enable them to do this. We live in an increasingly multicultural society and today the children developed the skills needed to play an active role as citizens in this world. by the end of the workshop, the children understood how important it is that they develop good relationships with and respect the differences between people around them, regardless of their ethnicity, faith, culture or nationality. Ask your child about their workshop and what they learnt.
