I will not be giving out spelling this week as we have a new spelling scheme in school called Big Spelling. The children will be assessed on their spelling and will be given a spelling sheet to work on at home. They will then work in partners to check progress throughout the week. We will be using the Look, Say, Cover, Write, Check method every day so that the children have these words embedded and they use them correctly in everything they do not just their spell check on a Friday or Monday.

For their learning log task this week, I would like the children to research and create either a poster or leaflet all about the different types of rock on the planet (What are they called? How are they formed? What are they used for? etc.) The children may choose themselves how to set out their poster/leaflet. These posters/leaflets will be used as part of our class Science display. The children can also use them as a prompt for an Oracy assessment when I will be asking the children to explain what they have learned about rocks to the class.
Here's a reminder of what makes an effective poster or leaflet.
Homework is due Wednesday 8th February.
Please can you continue helping your child learn their times tables, this will really help with all areas of maths.
Many Thanks
Mrs Rees :o)
