Yellow Fish Campaign

Jake from Keep Wales Tidy visited Caerau and Tryfan today to talk about their special Yellow Fish Campaign.  This campaign is running throughout Wales.  Keep Wales Tidy are encouraging schools and community groups to get involved in the campaign to help improve water quality in and around the River Clun.

Funded by Natural Resources Wales, Yellow Fish aims to stop people pouring oil, paints, solvents or chemicals into surface water drains or gullies on the side of the road.

Many people are unaware that anything poured into these drains ends up in rivers, streams and the sea. Even a small amount can harm the water environment, poisoning fish and wildlife and smothering plants.

Schools, community groups and businesses are helping to raise awareness of water pollution by marking drains with Yellow Fish signs.  The children in Year 4 and 5 were busy this afternoon, in the pouring rain to mark the drains in and around the school grounds with the special fish symbol.  Take a look at the super work they did in the photos below.
