Hopefully you have all had a wonderful half term and spent some lovely time with family and friends.  Although it has been very cold, it has been nice to see the sun shine over the week.  With spring just around the corner, fingers crossed this is the sun of warmer, brighter weather (well, once the Siberian weather front passes that is!)

I am pleased to say that I will be back at work tomorrow on a phased return basis, which means I will be in some days but not all.  As a means of continuity, Miss Foley will continue to teach the class on the days that I am not at work.  I am very much looking forward to seeing you my little lovelies and hearing all about the wonderful work you have completed while I have been off.  I would like to take the opportunity to say a BIG thank you for my lovely messages sent via email, Hwb and those sent via Mrs Udy.  I have missed you all and it is nice to know that I have been missed a little too.  Thank you also for the messages sent by parents, your continued support is very much appreciated.

Please find below information about the next fortnight and all the exciting tasks you will be undertaking.

This week is our annual Welsh week where we celebrate everything Welsh and show a sense of pride for being part of such a wonderful country like Wales.  During the week you will be completing a range of activities (some of which you started before half term) in readiness for our Eisteddfod on Thursday 1st March.  The work completed will be judged and 1st, 2nd and 3rd places will be announced during the celebrations on Thursday.  The activities to complete include:
  • Handwriting
  • Castle line and tone artwork
  • Poetry writing
  • Practising songs and recitations for the Eisteddfod.

Saesneg/Gwyddoniaeth
Over the next few weeks we will be looking at  Scientific Reports in more detail, especially the elements needed to achieve higher levels.  We will be carrying out two enquiries linked to our Plants For Life Science topic.  One will look at pollination and the other on what plants need to be healthy.  The main focus of these lesson is ensuring that you have detail in your scientific reports and include all the relevant elements to show your scientific understanding.  We will be looking at these elements this week before planning and writing the reports next week.

Mathemateg
During mathematics will be focusing on money, looking at budgets and how to use them.  We will be looking at the following skills:
  • To use the terms profit and loss in buying and selling activities and make calculations for this.
  • To understand the advantages and disadvantages of using bank accounts.
  • To make comparisons between prices and understand which is best value for money.

Cymraeg
We will be looking at the past tense in Welsh over the next few weeks in order to upskill our writing and oral work.  Firstly, we will focus on the first person before moving on to the third person, which means you will be able to describe yourselves and family and friends in the past tense.

Enjoy your Sunday evening and I look forward to seeing you bright and early tomorrow morning my little lovelies.
