Snow Day

Image result for snow day
School is closed for the next two days because of the snow!

There are three things we would like you to do before returning to school on Monday:

·       Firstly:  Please stay safe!
c
Secondly: Use this exciting weather to have lots of fun in the snow.  Wrap up warm and get yourselves outside.  Can you build a snowman?  Measure how tall he is and we can see who built the tallest.  Can you build a few snowmen and find the mode, median and range of their heights?  Make snow angels and have snow ball fights with family and friends before going indoors and warming yourselves up with nice cup of hot chocolate mmmmmmm!
·
Finally: There are some activities I would like you to complete in your learning log books:

Language
1) Using adventurous vocabulary write a descriptive poem about the snow. Think about using similes, alliteration, metaphors and personification.  No Acrostic poems allowed!!!

2) As it is World Book Day in school next week, think about your favourite author, write 5 higher order questions you would like to ask them about a book you have read that they have written.

Maths
1) Design some snowflakes with rotational symmetry.

2) Use the data in the table to work out the Mean, Mode, Median and Range. Don't forget to show your workings out.

Art- Use a pencil to create a sketch of a snowy scene. Remember how lines can create tone and texture. Do not use colour in your picture.

Remember, stay safe and well, have fun and enjoy the snow. Take photographs of your snow day fun and we will use them in a display in class!!
