We have had a busy few weeks in Dosbarth Caerau and Tryfan. We may be coming to the end of term but we haven't taken our feet off the pedals just yet! However, we have had lots of fun in the mean time. Take a look at the wonderful activities we have been doing over the past two weeks and the skills we have been developing; ranging from ICT, adventurous activities and entrepreneurial skills.
SPHERO PROGRAMMING
We were very lucky last week when Mrs Lewis kindly lent us her Sphero which we were allowed to work together to program. Sphero is a robotic ball and unlike any other game you've seen before. It's a robotic ball gaming device that you control with a tilt, touch, or swing of your smartphone or tablet. Sphero delivers a unique mixed-reality experience. The children thoroughly enjoyed creating their own mazes which others then had to program the ball around using their knowledge of angles and length.
ENTERPRISE
We have had lots of fun preparing for our Enterprise and thoroughly enjoyed selling our projects during the Summer Fete and again last week to the infant and junior children. We tried really hard to make sure our products had an eco-friendly or healthy spin on them. Myself and Mrs Udy were very impressed with some of the ideas, especially the use of scrap paper to make something new and Bring and Buy stall which showed that recycling and reusing CAN be easy! The fruit popsicles proved very popular as did the no added sugar mocktails!
Once we had sold during the fete we were busy using Spreadsheets and formula to calculate our profit. We will need to do this again this week to update our profits as we were very busy on Wednesday and most of us sold out!!
ADVENTUROUS ACTIVITIES
To make the most of the beautiful weather we have been having, myself and Miss Fowley decided to take the children outside for an afternoon of sporting fun. We were lucky to have Mr Scott with us for a few days last week and the week before. Scott is a trained football coach, so he took some of us for a football session which was great! We had lots of fun as he put organised drills and then a game to finish.
The rest of Caerau and Tryfan worked together in teams of 3 or 4 to create their own adventurous activity games. These games needed to included a range of equipment, which included blacked out goggles and carpet tiles. Everyone had to work together to guide their partners through the activities as their partners had lost their eye sight for the afternoon! It was lots of fun and there was a lot of laughter ringing through the yard!
YEAR 6 LEAVERS' PROM
As you can see, we have had a fun-filled fortnight and we still have one week to go!
Paintballing
Tomorrow is the Year 6 Leavers' trip, paintballing in Cowbridge. Please remember sensible footwear and clothing is needed, along with sun cream and sunhats as the weather is going to be sunny again. ALL children attending need to have a packed lunch, including a drink that will last them the duration of the trip. There is nowhere for the children to buy snack, therefore NO money is needed.
The children will be leaving school around 9.15am, after registration and returning to school before the end of the school day. It should be a trip to remember and I hope the children have a wonderful time. Miss Morgan, Mrs Boat and Mrs Taylor will be accompanying the children on this trip as I am unable to go due to Mini Rees and Mrs Udy will be meeting her class for next year as it is Move Up Morning. We both look forward to hearing all about it on Tuesday!
Many Thanks
Mrs Rees :O)
